Workin' [out] girl.

Going to begin my workout regimen today. Planned to start last week, but that did not happen at all. I do yoga at home (sometimes), but I decided that it would be a good idea to use the student rec center at the university while I have access to it this semester. Also, I feel like I will be okay for the trip to Peru and the climbing and the hiking and what not, but I would like to just feel more "okay", if that makes sense. More healthy? I have been doing pretty okay with the eating better thing. Less soda, I find fruit that I like and eat more of that (turns out the over-ripe grapes I bought get better the further down the bag I get. Happy surprise!), less burgers and fried food, etc. It's working. I do actually feel better. I was skeptical about really being able to tell a difference, but I do. I have found out, however, that ordering lemonade instead of soda is more expensive. I like water, but not for every single meal. It's a bit of a give-and-take, so far. So, anyhow. Today I begin my workout attempt. I'm hoping the rec center isn't too busy on Friday afternoons. I'm hoping most students have already gone home to prep for going out on Friday night. Not having tried this yet, I'm not sure this is true. Also, I have a tendency to be restless at gyms. I can't find a machine that I like. Then I find one that looks promising and I have to figure out how to program it. Then I can't figure out where to plug my headphones in to be able to hear music through them. Then I can't run/cross-train/bike/stairstep without the headphones falling out of my ears. Then I nearly fall off the machine. Then I decide to just watch the tvs they have in there. Then I get tired of the machine I'm on and have to find a new one and begin the entire thing over. I do this about three times, tops. Then I leave and realize that I didn't really spend much time actually exercising, but rather the time was spent fiddling with the mechanics of the machines. Today I am vowing to not mess with the mechanics. Just get on the machine and work it, sistah. Even if you don't like the music that's playing or the stuff on tv: it doesn't matter. Bike/run/cross-train/step your lil heart out regardless of the many distractions you can find around you.
