Hey, I just met you and this is crazy.

Phew. I think I'm thisclose to being done painting. I'm waiting for paint to dry right now and have run out of things to do. You may remember that I mentioned painting the sunporch weeks ago? My house has been a disaster area since then and there have been some bookcases half painted sitting in another room for a while. I was reminded yesterday (none too soon!) that I get four personal days per year at work. It's close to halfway through the year and I haven't used even one, so I immediately decided to take one today and use the opportunity to wrench control of my house back from the messiness. I had a burst of brainstorming of ideas of other craft things to do today and I went on the hunt around town earlier to see what I could find in the way of supplies. I wasn't satisfied with anything that I found, so I decided to just stick with the painting for the day. And intermittently watching the ever-popular six hour version of Pride and Prejudice.

I have plans for the landscaping around my home. I don't know when I'll get to it, but I may have mentioned my veggie/berry garden plans for the backyard? I've been asking lots of people for advice on growing veggies, and have a somewhat thought-out plan of attack on how to build the raised bed. I'm thinking of trying my hand with a tomato plant, spaghetti squash, green beans, and strawberries. Maybe a potato plant, too. I'm not sold on that one yet.

That's for the backyard.

The front yard plans are beginning to come together. I'm going to tear up the one flower bed I have and remove one large burning bush plant and replace it with a birdbath. If I can find a decent birdbath that doesn't look too much like something an old lady would buy. I want it to be kind of a funky birdbath, you know? If I can't find funky, then just something very plain and classic. Surely, I can find something. Anyway, this will serve a double purpose of making the bushes less trouble to handle and give Bea something to watch and get excited about right outside one of her favorite windows.

When I was in the craft store parking lot earlier today the song "Call Me, Maybe" came on the radio and, after having watched the Harvard baseball team dance video several times yesterday, I immediately went into doing the dance motions during the chorus through the parking lot. Apparently, it's the signal for 'hit and run'? I don't know my baseball signals at all, but okay. If you watch it, be prepared to not hear this song without going into the hand signs ever again. I thought it was a catchy, if redundant, song to begin with, but the dance makes the song better:

I don't think I could ever do something like this on camera with a straight face. I wonder how many times they had to tape it? I'm not sure there's a road trip to a baseball game long enough for me to have been able to do this without laughing and messing it up. Big bravo to them.
