I think the 9th wonder of the world was discovered at a "As Seen on TV" store in Branson. It's a giant cookie baking set. Hello, beautiful. This is amazing. Giant cookies. Someone saw me coming. This is going to make me bake more, for sure. Anna and I immediately went to the grocery store after getting back to Springfield and bought ingredients to make a giant oreo. It was kind of a mess and really fun.
The cookies themselves tasted fantastic. The icing was ridiculous. If I were six, I think I could have eaten the whole final product (eventually), but at twenty years older than that, I don't have the sugar tolerance any longer. It was still really awesome to make a giant oreo. But, for future reference: a giant oreo in theory is better than a giant oreo in eating...at least when the creme in the middle is made of two whole boxes of powdered sugar mixed with an entire can of frosting. I plan to make giant chocolate chip cookies now. All. the. time.
In other fantastic news, KU is out of the basketball tournament. They tend to choke, which is great fun for those of us that can't stand the Jayhawks. Jayhawk tears flooded the court, while the rest of basketball country pointed and laughed via social media everywhere. They really bring it upon themselves. If the team and the fans were just a little more humble, people might not hate them so much. But as it is, when you have players brawl with another team pre-game in a national tournament, then you taunt the underdogs who have already taken down many other teams so far because you assume you're a shoe-in for the finals of the tournament: you're going down and you're not getting any sympathy. Even little kids at library storytime know that. Somewhere between four-year-old and twenty-year old Kansas basketball player, that lesson gets lost. So they choke, and the rest of us celebrate their humiliation. I'm pretty pleased with the tournament now. It's taken quite a turn for the better. My brackets were basically dead after day 1, but that's what happens when you pick teams to win based on mascots or how enjoyable the school name is to say. Now it's interesting again.
It's cold and snowy here even though it's the end of March (I don't know what kind of joke we're living in this year, but enough already). This week is spring break at Mizzou. It's going to be cold and dreary most of the week. One of my classmates went to Brazil for this week and is going to England this summer. Color me super jealous. My plans are to pick up my cat from my dad's house tomorrow. And work. And then work work work. But no midterms or papers or group projects this week. I'll breathe a little this week, maybe. Or maybe read for fun.
